Carl S. Myers, MSW, ACSW, LSCSW, discovered the
field of social work in 1969 through a volunteer experience in rural
Southern Colorado. The notion that a person could dedicate himself
to a professional career of helping people to resolve problems of
living had a tremendous appeal to a young man who wanted to "make
a difference" for other people. Mr. Myers has dedicated his
career to that goal for over 35 years.
Mr. Myers earned his BSW degree from Colorado State University in
1973. He moved to Salt Lake City, Utah where he worked as the Director
of the South Salt Lake Community Action Program in a low income
community setting. Mr. Myers entered the Graduate School of Social
Work at the University of Utah in 1974 and while a graduate student
was also employed as an academic adviser for the university, and
later, as a staff member with the University of Utah Counseling
Center. Mr. Myers completed his MSW degree in 1976.
Mr. Myers was accepted as a Post-Masters Fellow in Psychiatric Social
Work at the Menninger Foundation in Topeka in 1976.
The Menninger School of Psychiatry was a multi-disciplinary post-graduate
residency program and he immersed himself in the outstanding training
resources and professional experiences available during this full-time
year of post-graduate residency.
Following his graduation from this program in 1977, Mr. Myers accepted
an appointment to the full-time faculty in the social work department
at Washburn University where he continues to serve as a tenured
professor of social work.
At the same time, Mr. Myers completed an additional two-year post-graduate
training program in marital and family therapy at the Menninger
Foundation, which was completed in 1979.

on post-graduate specialty training, Mr. Myers worked part-time
as a therapist on the staff at Catholic Social Services through
1980.
He also worked as the Executive Director of the Kansas Chapter
of the National Association of Social Workers in professional association
management before resuming private clinical practice in 1984.
He joined Shadow Wood Clinical Associates in 1990 where he has
enjoyed working with highly qualified professional colleagues who
are also dedicated to the delivery of state of the art clinical
psychiatric services.
Mr. Myers provides counseling services to children, adults, marital
couples, and families as a generalist practitioner. He has specific
training, many years of clinical experience, and a special interest
in providing private adoption assessment, parenting concerns with
children (over age 6), school problems, and psychotherapy for the
treatment of depression, stress, and anxiety.
Mr. Myers is particularly adept in working with men’s issues
including parenting/relationship conflict, and, stress-related concerns
in the workplace.
Mr. Myers is available for appointments on Tuesday and Thursday
from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
