Dr. Cynthia Turk received her PhD in clinical psychology
from Oklahoma State University in 1996. She completed a 6 year postdoctoral
fellowship at Adult Anxiety Clinic at Temple University. She was
previously on the faculty at La Salle University, where she was
also the Director of the Anxiety Disorders Treatment and Research
Program.
She joined the faculty of the Psychology Department at Washburn
University in 2005. Dr. Turk is a licensed clinical psychologist
in Kansas.
Dr. Turk began seeing patients in Topeka in private practice in
2006.
Her clinical interests are primarily in the anxiety disorders,
including social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder,
specific phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, and posttraumatic
stress disorder. She has over 25 publications in peer-reviewed journals
and 15 chapters in edited books, primarily in the area of anxiety.

She is a co-author on the books Managing Your Social Anxiety (Client
Manual) and Managing Your Social Anxiety (Therapist Manual). She
co-edited the book, Generalized Anxiety Disorder: Advances in Research
and Practice.
Dr. Turk’s private practice schedule typically changes slightly
with each academic semester. Therefore, patients should call the
clinic to learn about scheduling possibilities. Dr. Turk accepts
both day and evening appointments.
