Education, Licensures, and Training: Lama “Emma” Alhezayen completed her Master of Social Work degree from Washburn University and she is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW). Her specialized training includes Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), clinical assessments, Master DSM-5 Key Changes, neuroscience, and treating Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.

Since 2017, Emma has been completing coursework to obtain her Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW) credentials and will receive her license in 2020. In addition, Ms. Alhezayen is working on her Doctorate in Psychology, PsyD with an emphasis on psychotherapy and counseling. Her academic performance, educational background, and specialized training reflects her ability to make accurate biopsychological assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and offer effective therapy and suicide intervention.

Professional Background: Before joining Shadow Wood Clinical Associates, Emma served as a Therapist and Clinical Social Worker for Midland Care Connection providing emotional support to adult patients. Her clinical expertise included psychosocial assessments, treatment plan development, and therapy. Ms. Alhezayen also gained valuable experience working as a Therapeutic Case Manager for KVC Behavioral Healthcare. During this time, Emma assessed and provided case management of children, adolescents, and adults in the foster care system. An impressive 75% in-home reintegration rate was obtained, which reflected her dedication to developing effective risk assessments and care plans. Additionally, her counseling, multi-agency collaboration, and open communication were instrumental in restoring children, families, and homes.

Emma’s professional career began at Valeo Behavioral Health, treating clients with various mental health disorders. Her role included evaluations, counseling, crisis intervention, and in-take services. She also collaborated with a therapist to lead a weekly Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group for clients with borderline personality disorders. The foundation and growth of her counseling career is contributed to providing quality patient care, which will remain the primary focus of her practice. Emma speaks fluent English and Arabic and welcomes an opportunity to work with international and Middle Eastern patients.

Areas of Clinical Interest: Ms. Alhezayen is skilled at conducting psychotherapy with patients from diverse backgrounds including international adults and seniors. Her caring approach and dedication to patient wellness have achieved treatment goals and improved patient lives. Emma works with clients suffering from all conditions including schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, eating disorders, domestic violence, and sexual abuse. Her areas of expertise include treating seniors, suicidal clients, and providing crisis intervention.

Emma is committed to providing accurate diagnoses and therapy to ensure long-term healing and growth. Her cognitive and dialectical behavioral therapy and motivational interviews play a key role in attaining impressive outcomes.
